Anyway, I was attempting to get back to the God is Love topic of the thread. I was actually speaking of the actions toward your enemies. You love them and kill them or was this just hyperbole?

Wrong again
First of all a Hyperbole assumes it means what it says. That is the nature of a hyperbole.
Second it's not "explained away". Anyone with half a brain understands there are types of speech. Jesus used a type of speech called a Parable, many times.
Jesus entered this world in a time when Greeks had exerted much influence on discourse. Rhetorical arguments came from the greeks and are used in scriptures "Do all speak with tongues?"
Parables too are parts of speech
Hyperboles are just one of those kinds of speech people used to make a point
Why would Jesus tell us on the one hand to honor father and mother and on the other hate them?
Just as He used Parables to teach a greater lesson, he used hypeboles and rhetorical questions to make others
Here the lesson is about your Love for Jesus, your desire to follow Jesus must be greater than your desire to remain away with the family
BTW did Jesus really mean we need to eat his skin or was he using a type of speech again?
