As to whether Christmas is about Presents or not, no offense...but spare me. He is 5. You show me a child at 5 who has some "revelation" that it's not about presents and such and I'll show you a parent who is lying of naive. For my boy it is mostly about the magic of Santa and Christmas presents. His mother and I know better, but for us it is still amazing to see that childlike wonder in his eyes. I will get more out of seeing my boy's reaction Christmas morning than I would out of sitting at church hearing another sermon about Christs birth that I already have heard about every year my entire life.

I do agree with you to a point, but not wholly. I agree that it is still the one day when just about every business closes for the day, and people gather together with their families. However, I believe that we are quickly losing even that remainder. We have already lost Independence Day and are steadily losing Thanksgiving as well. Our holidays are less about celebrating who or what we are, but are now occasions for self indulgence.
I think that instead of needing fewer messages about the meaning of Christmas, maybe we actually need more. Well did the Bible describe the day in which we live.
