Amanah, be comforted. You are following God in real ways, He will honor that. I do not find anywhere in scripture that God found one seeking after Him with the desire to love and worship Him and repaid with a serpent or a stone. Yet in the history of man we have NEVER had perfect doctrine, not one of us. There are only a very select few on the planet who are arrogant enough (or blind enough) to think that they do and it is their souls I fear for most of all. I believe that no man can claim to completely know the mind of God this side of eternity and it may be vanity as well to think that we will know ALL things even then.
We are growing daily as we should. He measures and weighs us and finds we have more substance this year than last and that pleases Him. We are His children and he delights in us.
What father, seeing his toddler fall and scrape a knee would run to him to kick him while he is down? Yet we have seen God painted just this way in the words of those we trusted to teach us. Too many times this desire to scare sinners straight backfires and we wind up frightening ourselves. We become the ones who can't sleep at night.
He loves you even as you search Him out wanting to know His heart and know His people and love them. It was His plan for you all along and never doubt that it pleases Him.
