We are delivered from the penalty of the law and the laws demands per the Law of Moses. Now we obey through the Spirit instead of the laws demand.

7 What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet.
Ex 20:17
Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's.

The Law is not sin. In fact the Law identifies sin. Paul would not know sin accept by the Law. The Law of God still identifies sin.
