Re: Common Myths about Gay Christians
The "gay" Christians that I know struggle with their desires, and wish to be free from them, just as the "crooked straight" Christians struggle with lust toward the opposite sex, and wish to be free from them. If you understand this statement you also understand how much more difficult the struggle is for the gays. Their desires are doubly objectionable. I recommend a book written by our senior pastor called, "Lepers Among Us" by Jim Reynolds, it is on Amazon, the story of seven gay men that he has personally mentored in Christ over the last 20 years. Five of these men, pastor has performed weddings for (to women, of course), and these five now have children and are members of our church. The other two, are living celibate lives, and have been for many years. The church needs to rid itself of it hatred of those caught in same sex sins. Jesus died for them, just as much as for the rest. The name of the book was what the seven wanted as a title, not because they were lepers, but rather that is how they felted that they were treated, prior to pastor ministering to them. He will tell you that the Lord took him to school in the process.
