Very good answer Sam. My question was half tic/half serious. I personally believe that homosexuality is not God sanctioned and ordained.
I've been thinking a lot about Aquila's thread on marriage. It used to be that people did not have to apply for a marriage license (permission to marry) from the state. They went before God and asked their Pastor/Preacher or the Justice of the Peace to perform the ceremony.
Do we as Spirit-filled believers not object to the demands placed upon us by the state that we are ordered by law to obtain that marriage license for a legal marriage?
Legal marriage is mainly, some say, for the state to know who is cohabitating with who and how many children are born to them (hence birth certificates and SS# assigned to the child before they leave the hospital). They can look at SS #'s that match with marriage licenses and IRS tax filings.
Most of us know the difference between spiritual/scriptural God sanctioned marriage and legally binding state sanctioned marriage.
It is unfortunate that our country has lost it's morals, but we will have same-sex couples, many who spend their lifetime together, regardless of a marriage law or lack of a law for them. It has been this way for thousands of years. The gays and lesbians object to not having the same tax breaks for themselves as heterosexual couples have, because they likewise pay taxes and insurance. And now since we have healthcare mandates, they want their rights like the minorities and women wanted theirs. They want to be considered as next of kin. They are not looking at marriage as a spiritual union between a man and a woman, which incidentally, the dictionary defines a husband as being a man, and a wife being a woman.
Do I agree with this? No... but I also do not live this life. I also would not want to be under a religious law such as Sharia Law of the Muslim world. I supposed that our Constitutional Law provides for the freedom of choice.
We are merely looking at signs of the times, which Jesus said these things are going to happen. We are much closer to His return that any of us could ever realize.
If we say we love our fellow man and want to see the lost saved, we are seeing what Christ warned us about coming to pass and we really need to be praying for our country, our world that God would have mercy on us all. That God would save His creation from the grips of Satan and from destruction.
