Rape has nothing to do with sex and everything to do with violence. Under the Law of Moses is was equated with murder, and in our legal system as well it is a crime of violence. It has nothing to do with pre-marital or extra-marital sex.
The word "shame" is not the word "sin" and does not denote a condition of unholiness before God but a condition of being publicly humiliated and disgraced BEFORE SOCIETY. Publicly shaving or shorning a person's head was an ancient form of punishment for a crime usually of a sexual nature. Even as recently as the end of WW II thousands of people were publicly shaved for collaboration with Germany. Many of the victims were women who were innocent of adultery with German soldiers. The ancient Assyrians shaved the heads of women for adultery, and according to the Talmud being shorn or shaven was the punishment for Jewish women for adultery. The Romans shaved the heads of their conquered enemies to put a visible mark of defeat upon their enemies. Female slaves in the Roman Empire were recognized by their short hair cut. The Apostle addressed the issue of slavery more than once in his Epistles. Paul instructed slaves to submit to their masters. The meaning of "shame" is CULTURAL-- not salvational.
