Brethren, we are not going to solve this in a way that makes everybody happy--nor in a way that everybody thinks is fair. We are going to have to put forth a comprehensive process that attempts to address as much of the "human side" of the issue as possible, while taking great care to cover the "security side" of the issue.

There are going to be holes in the process, ways to slip through, and we will have to fix those, too.

But, two things...

1) We didn't get into this overnight, and we aren't going to get out of it any quicker than we got in.

2) We surely can't leave things as they are and expect everything to be okay. We must attempt SOMETHING.

Now, two more things...

1) We can't change our character and stop being compassionate...criminalizing everybody who is here attempting to surivive.

2) We can't just let my our borders remain so open that a terrorist can get through and all of our low end jobs are taken.

I agree w/ most of this post ... this isn't solved solely by heavy-handedness or reactionary politics.
