Re: Virtual church
2-3 weeks ago my leader did a fb video, speaking about the church being out of the walls, we are the church, etc,
3 days ago he did one and mentioned “here at the church”, referring to the bldg since he was the only one there, 3-4x in the first 4 mins of the video.
I don’t get it....tradition has its grasp I guess.
Even every New Testament (def:following resurrection) verse besides possibly in Revelation refers to the house of God as the ecclesia, not a bldg. But when God wants to “clean the house of God” he’s talking about our lives not the bathroom at a bldg. Not sure what it’s like everywhere else but here locally leadership is extremely hung up on the bldg being the special place dedicated to God for our gathering....called “our Bethel”, Gods house, house of God, House of the Lord.
It’s so ingrained I’m confident that verbiage will not go away, ever. Even knowing they met in homes for 275 years, won’t change it. Tradition.
Calling the bldg the church is soooooooo common, especially here locally. Probly everywhere I presume...
I believe that little detail is hurting the church.
Who we are, not where we go.
