The question was asked by our dear brother in sincerity so in just a few words let me explain first I will copy the question: Dozens of co-pastors working with him. How? Could you expound on that thought? How would the structure be if your husband had dozens of co-pastors?
We live in a city of almost a million people in the lease evangelized state of Brazil. Our workers (preachers) are young in ministry and we have opened up what we call daughter works. My husband is the main pastor and bishop of our central church. We have built 4 churches and rented 3 other buildings and have several house meetings scattered throughout our city. My husband is teaching these brothers they are NOT ready for any type FULL responsibility. They are NOT titled co pastors but ONE man could not pastor 8 churches and a bunch of house meetings. Besides these we have in other cities around us.
This is really an insight of how missions operate...always reaching out, helping develop new works and PREACHERS.
Some people may never develop a pastor´s ministry but they work well with an overseer helping them.
I thank the Lord for those that develop into great leaders and are able to be on their own but their will ever be a training period to develop more and more leaders.
I know we can become so technical sometimes and discuss what these men should be called...co pastors, campus pastors, ministers of this or that BUT it is not the name that is so important it is the winning of souls..
If we used the word elder here people would think we are Mormons or a Congregational church that does not believe in pastors...
In Brazil our young workers work up a scale. No one is just ordained pastor...they start off as a doorkeeper and if they do that well they become a deacon (young preacher) and on up the scale...
I think each church should use the best method that suits the country or area they work in.
Maybe later I can expound more…Remember Eddie is the son of missionaries.
