I have worked with some native Indians who were filled with the Holy GHost and baptized in Jesus' name, and left their traditional religion. They are ADAMANT AGAINST anything to do with these sorts of things in the church. They tell me they used drums to attract the spirits of their religion. They used drums predominantly in powows. Some Indians have taken this and incorporated it into Christianity, and had Christian POWOWS, but these folks with whom I worked would NEVER do that in a million years.
The bible is plain about taking rites from other religious circles and incorporating them into the worship of God.
Ezekiel 20 spoke loudly about polluting God's name with such things. In short, use only what the WORD said to use in worship.
When David took the Philistines' use of an ox cart into the return of the Ark of the Covenant, God smote Uzzah, and David learned he had not sought God after the "due order". The Word already said how to carry the ark -- on priests' shoulders.
We need not concoct anything to add to what the Bible said about worship. Let's build according to the PATTERN, and only use the DUE ORDER. I do not believe God blesses our added ideas.
