It also says the putting on of apparel. Agape, I am conservative in my lifestyle and would probably be welcomed in your church as a member with few if any lifestyle changes. That said, the context of the scripture has to be considered. Piece parting of scripture to create a doctrine is scary for me. Is it the color gold that God does not like or is it the costly nature of the gold and the intent of the wearer that moves him to instruct us in this manner? Obviously God does not intend for us to run around nude... neither does he want us to adorn ourselves in COSTLY array or COSTLY gold for the purpose of flaunting our wealth or standing. Modesty is the word... for me that means I don't wear a wedding ring... gold, silver, platinum, junk metal, or otherwise. I do wear a quality Seiko watch (no gold) that could easily be replaced with a pocket watch. The thing is that being on time is important to me so my watch is not jewelery, even in the eyes of most conservative's.
