Re: The Meaninglessness of "I'm Sorry."
While taking the 12 steps of AA and getting sober, I had to make a list of ALL the people I had harmed and be willing to make amends to them....then....go and make those amends except where to do so would harm them or others. NO FUN...and my sponser in AA told me time and time again that I couldnt just go and say Im sorry,,the people to whom I had harmed already knew I was "sorry"! Making amends means setting things straight. Its not easy to do but its very effective...and it sure beats a weak " im sorry ". I had to ask those whom I had harmed..."what can I do to make things right?" That my friends is humbling but freeing!!!!!
