This happened to my father when he gave his life to Christ in April 1972 as a heroin addict. He asked God to take away this addiction right now ... and He did ... prior to baptism or being baptized w/ the HG ... speaking in tongues.
This does not mean that there will not be consequences to our sins ... or that they are forever eradicated in affecting our present futures.
The Hep C he contracted as a drug user in his early 20's eventually killed him destroying his liver ... at age 60
