Ahhh... cancer, yes, it strikes exactly at the differences between vitalist and atomist approaches at healing. The vitalist seeks to help someone along in their sickness, to see why the sickness is there, how it got there, and how the body can be built up to overcome the sickness. Atomism, looks at the body as a collection of atoms, and when atoms have mutated funny, the regular medical doctor says, "Let's ATTACK!" and there they go attacking the body. Give the
sick person radiation, mustard gas, sure, whatever, let's do war on the sick person's body! We'll kill the cancer...
and everything else in the body! And after all... if you do survive, that must mean that our methods are working,
right? Hundreds of years ago mercury was used to cure diseases- I bet it worked a few times... I bet it killed a lot of people too.
