There is so much truth to this post. I wish, just once, that my father had taken that much needed sabbatical. Even on vacation, the phone would still ring...bad things can happen any time. Pastoring is a 24/7 job, despite what one may think.
I know that where we live, a pharmacuetical company was sponsoring pastor's sabbaticals. All the church needed to do was find a replacement pastor for 6 months...one that would work well with the current pastor. And they also sent you to retreats, seminars, workshops and conferences during this sabbatical to recharge your batteries

As for the pastor not going to that church, well, I can understand that. Now, I think 3 months is a long time, but again, we don't really know the whole story, so maybe there's more to this than meets the eye.
