There is the verse right? What I am trying to say is this. If you insist that the bible teaches a literal 6 day creation and a 10000 year old earth then when people start to understand that real science actually does point to an old earth there will be no way to save their faith if they believe the bible actually teaches a literal 6 day creation and 10000 year old earth.
