Here's an example of how some preachers could very well prepare for a sermon. Throw out a random scripture and write down 20 possible messages that would be catchy with the verse. (Don't bother ever understanding what the verse originally meant either). It's proof-texting. It's creative twisting -- and sometimes to make an honorable point even! Gone are the days (at least in Pentecost) of great expository preaching.

True! I've heard of people who do "preacher-training" by giving someone a verse and their job is to get up immediately and preach on it. That's insane. And they use the verse, "Be instant in season.....".
