I do think the fact that it's in the past by several years makes this a slightly unfair discussion. If his congregation knew about it and kept him as pastor anyway, or maybe he was reinstated after a time (I don't know), that's their decision.
I would be interested to know whether or not the congregation was aware of his past *mistake*, or if they found out when the media dug it up.

It is up to them of course, but the fact that he's offering to resign now that this comes out makes it appear (to me at least) that the congregation didn't know.
Whatever they do is their business, but my opinion on his actions is that banning facebook as an avenue to adultery is ignorant, and when it comes from a pastor who'd engaged in threesomes with their spouse and a church officer, it appears even more odd.
