Folks, there you have it. Epley will not answer this simple, basic question: What happens to the lost when they die? I mean, isn't this one of the basic tenets of Apostolic doctrine?

In truth, he already has answered it in another thread. He says it's up to God. Turns out He may actually give them a pardon. Don't believe me? See for yourself.

"Timmy he [Bishop Patterson] did die lost he did not obey the gospel that saves BUT it is up to God at the judgment what he does with them not me."

"Going to Hell will be determined at the White Throne being lost is determined NOW whether you obey the gospel or not. Will ALL the lost go to Hell stick around for the White Throne and find out. God will judge that not I."

"EVERYONE is lost who has not obeyed Acts 2:38 God can do with them what he wants at the judgment."

"The judgment will sort them out but I am afraid it will be too late. But He is God and the judge so it is up to HIm if he decides to show mercy He is God. I doubt it happens but He can if he wants."

He was trying to reconcile this statement:

"I have NOT said on this forum or in person that 'so and so' is going to Hell. Not me."

with this:

"Sad he died lost." (Speaking of Bishop Patterson in this thread.)

Did he succeed? Shall I start another poll?
Well the answer is clear for those who want to see it. That is my FINAL answer.

The lost will be sent to the lake of fire. They will suffer there and then their soul will be destroyed just like their body.

28: And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. Matt. 10:28

The bottom line is that the wages of sin is death not immortality in Hell.

22: But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.
23: For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Romans 6:23

By the way our works must be perfect to save our souls from Hell. Why do I believe so? Because Jesus said so!

1: And unto the angel of the church in Sardis write; These things saith he that hath the seven Spirits of God, and the seven stars; I know thy works, that thou hast a name that thou livest, and art dead.
2: Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die: for I have not found thy works perfect before God.
3: Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee.
4: Thou hast a few names even in Sardis which have not defiled their garments; and they shall walk with me in white: for they are worthy.
5: He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.
6: He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches. Rev. 3:1-6

Why are they being reproved? Their works are not perfect. Verse2

What happens if they do not overcome?

Name blotted out of the book of life! Verse 5

Rev. 20:15 And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire

so who is not written in the book of life?

Rev. 21:8 But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerors, idolaters, and all liars shall have thier part in the lake which burns with fire and brimestone, which is the second death.

so if someone is one of these, (unless they repent, are baptized in Jesus name, and filled with the Holy Ghost,)than that,s where they go.

all scripture from NKJV.

But if I am wrong, and the Apostolic mentality is correct, then I believe and accept that I am going to hell and there isn't much I can do about it other than spend the rest of my life, 24x7 praying in a dark, empty room with no windows, which I'm not willing to do.
Believing that your going to hell isn't an "Apostolic" mentality... It is a mentality straight from the pits of hell that the devil would like to use to shake our faith in God. I for one am NOT going to hell! I will rely on God's abundant mercy and grace to cover my short comings and help me to repent of all sin. God is a loving and merciful God who doesn't want His people to live in fear. If we do our part He will do the rest!

Is it still the Pentecostal mentality that if you sin or have a bad thought and haven't repented for it that you will go to hell?

For example, say there was a Sunday night service and I was dancing and shouting and speaking in tongues... then I get out of church that night and on the way home I have a bad thought (maybe a cute girl is walking down the street and I admire her for just a moment)... if I am then in an accident and die without repenting for the "lustful" thought, I will go to hell right?

I'm sure most people would rather not say, but I have to take things to their logical conclusion and fill in the blanks... this is why things have never added up for me... except Grace - the version of Grace that I didn't learn makes it add up, but not my actual experience growing up in the UPC.
