I agree. But nevertheless the effect initially intended is still accomplished in unconscious signals to the male population.

Red lipstick isn't even in style, nudes are more in style.... that doesn't mimic 'blood rushing to the lips'. Neutral color eyeshadows are the norm now, and very little, if any, blush. Very few women are going for 'the look'. They are simply wanting to cover blemishes, and look 'put together'.

I agree.

I'm around men at work all day, and I never even think about my light makeup, and I bet you they don't either. But if I've just put on perfume, and I'm in the elevator with men.... honestly, I feel self-conscious.

It is an unconscious signal issue, though. It has been proved, is all I am saying.

You could say the same thing about high-heeled shoes, sheer hose, on and on. If they want to be consistent about women avoiding anything seductive.... well, if you follow that trail it can end up in real goofiness. I'm a big fan of plain ol' common sense.

Alternative intents to do things do not remove the effects that things cause, though. No matter how much a woman wears make-up for the "look alone, does not remove the fact that the facial features that are enhanced in far exaggerated manners than what would normally occur do affect males. I see no sin in make-up at all. I do not preach against it. I am just saying what is scientifically true.

Re: Adornment!!
To teach young men that young women who wear make-up want sex is a very wrong idea to plant in their young minds......

Women do not do it for those reasons. But scientifically that is the unconscious effect, and the inventors of make-up knew it.

I never understood that one either.

This is true. My head has been turned more than once by the nice smell of a good perfume. My faves... Red Door & Beautiful.
I make sure my wife never runs out of those.

Women do things such as this for mens sake when it accomplishes their intended goals.
But women, oddly enough, most often "doll up" for other women. They seem to live in a constant state of competition or seeking of approval.

Yes, there is a definite competitive component. Women do different things for different motives. Young men should never be taught WHY women do certain things. Come on, even long married guys can't figure out why their own wives do certain things!!
I never wear perfume. It gives me a headache.

TRUE! One thing I noticed is that women are very much concerned over certain shoes and certain dress styles THAT ONLY OTHER WOMEN APPRECIATE. As a man, I get nothing out of what style of shoes a woman wears. Only other women are impressed.

Yes sir. I only understand that it happens. I don't understand why.

Question....I'm just curious. I've been pondering on this all day. What is the difference between makeup and perfume/cologne?? Why can't our women wear makeup, but can wear purfume?? Just a thought....

We'd rather they smell procative but look modest?

In reality, have you found this to be true for yourself? If you're speaking to a woman who is wearing makeup, do you feel an attraction that you don't feel to an attractive woman who is not wearing makeup? Pretty Pentecostal girls seem to have no trouble at all attracting guys, even without the makeup.
I just think that the reality is not any where near what the scientific research might have you think.
