I'd like to say that, for the most part, I am pleasantly surprised at the responses in this thread. To see so many stand up and say that jury duty is something we should go through with when we are offered the opportunity is a breath of fresh air on the subject.

Commit a felony. Make sure you are convicted. You will never recieve another summons. Works for me!

Re: Baron & Griffin: HELP! (Or anyone else....)

In previous state I was called for jury duty twice, a few years apart.
I ended up on five cases.

DUI twice; stabbing at a county fair; failed equipment in oil well in another state but owner of oil well lived in our fair city and can't remember the other.

Always interesting, educational re the judicial system, fun to meet the fellow jurors....

The oil well case was 3 weeks and we were told that in advance. At the voir dire the questions involved availability for the 3 week period. Many were excused due to the length of the trial.

I don't remember exact pay but it was very low and since I was only working part time my job did not make up the difference.
All of my full time jobs paid you your full salary; ie made up the pay difference.
