I believe most of the key players in the merger believed they were all brothers. The movement to muscle "salvation by grace through faith" types emerged some time later. I don't believe the merger began with a conspiracy. If I recall Fudge's book this is what was documented. The animous developed later.
Exactly. If you need a copy there are evaluation copies floating around for free. A "limited preview" of "Christianity Without the Cross" is available here: http://tinyurl.com/46tohez

Because we are discussing something that already has an extensive scholarly treatment, it's kind of silly to keep demanding footnotes.

Now, concerning the charge of "revisionism" - Why was this article by PCI co-founder John H. Dearing removed from the required reading material for ALL UPCI MINISTERS? (See attachment).

This article obviously opens up the possibility of salvation for those who did not "Obey Acts 2:38®." Dearing had to be silenced.

That is an excellent article. Is there more of it elsewhere?

This comes from the old Pentecostal Home Study Course - that big 3-Ring binder of 250 Bible Lessons that everyone had to read to qualify for a Local License back from the the time of the merger up until the late 1980s.

You'll have to find an old copy from the library of some aged elder. This old copy had 100 Lessons by a PAJC writer, 100 Lessons by a PCI writer and 50 additional "up-to-date" studies that were added.

The current version - which is no longer "Required Reading" deletes all of the PCI material - written by John H. Dearing and adds 100 other Lessons so that the title didn't have to be changed and drawn unwanted attention.

I worked at World Evangelism Center and the Pentecostal Publishing House at the time that the older version was still being printed.
