I feel that we have the freedom to apply biblical commandments and principles to whatever extent we feel personally necessary. If someone believes that shorts are immodest, they shouldn't wear them. However, if a case can't be made they they are sinful using the Bible, then perhaps it shouldn't be preached or taught that way. IMO, it's much better to say, "be modest" and "I don't feel that shorts are modest and here's why" than it is to say, "Wearing shorts is a sin and will send you to hell."
Applications and interpretations should never be confused with Biblical commandments.

Well, I don't know, the first post after I said that is Socialite making fun and laughing.
Shorts may not have been the best example but I do believe they are immodest and certain kinds of shorts most definitely are. But in any of these cases it seems the wise and prudent approach is to avoid the things that could lead us into problem areas and just stay away. What difference, really, does it make if I get to wear shorts or not? ARe shorts really worth fighting for? Or any of the other things? I'm not interested in how much I can do and not sin, I'm interested in staying as far away from it as possible!
Some seem to almost take pride in what they're able to do, not realizing they're headed for danger. I would just as soon stay from it all. I'm not missing a thing and filled with the joy of the Lord!

And Blume laughed at Adino's position concerning Repentance. Aren't we all big boys here? Is it that deep? Really?
Wear your sweat pants when you play ball and swim bro. More power to you!

Thank you, but I'll stay out of the public swimming pools.

What about lakes, rivers, creeks, ocean?
Does swimming in front of family members constitute public? And how immodest can we be when there's a blood relation?

Balance is key.
The bold portion above is double-edged. One can say that a tendency to enforce strict ascetic observances on others is a position of danger as well.

No, and I'm not fighting over them with you.
I don't take pride in whatever liberties I have; you asked what my views were in regard to question #4. I answered as frankly as I could without second guessing or trying to over-explain why I think this or that.

I didn't mean that you were fighting about shorts. I meant that shorts aren't worth fighting for as in trying to find a reason to wear them.

Personally I don't think it's worth fighting for either, not because we need a reason to wear them but it's a waste of time and points us externally away from the heart and away from what Jesus wants to do in the heart

- That Jesus name baptism is the only biblical mode of water baptism.
- That the Holy Ghost is for today and is received by faith with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues.

I agree.
Although, the wearing of shorts is worthy of reasonable consideration, wouldn't you agree?
