I know one of your favorites is Stefano, but for some reason, he's had a hard time getting votes. He was nearly voted off after doing "Hello", which was a masterpiece. He wasn't voted into the top 10, has been in the bottom 3 twice after singing masterpieces, so I'm afraid that he won't survive after doing that last night. It's a bummer. He's one of the best ever on AI.

I agree - - you'd think he would get some teen girls following him because he's a cutie, but his personality doesn't show at all so maybe that's keeping the votes low. I hate that it ends up being a popularity vote really.
Pia is awesome, but she's a performer - not an entertainer and I think that's going to hurt her. She seems like a fish out of water last night trying to be all cool and hip. Her voice is flawless though.

Oh man, it was hard to watch her last night. I don't mind, at all, having her just stand there and sing. Plus, that outfit!!!! Can they PLEASE never have Gwen Stefani on there again to dress people?
Speaking of "just stand there and sing", why the heck is it SO important for people to "Perform"? The Beatles never "performed", they just wrote great songs, played average music, and stood there doing what they did. They didn't have to have 95 dancers, fire-breathing dragons, hovering smoke, and media productions.
To me, when a person has to "Perform", they're saying, "I'm not good enough on my own." I've been disappointed when they continually tell Stefano that he needs to perform. He's a GREAT singer. I wish that were enough.
And last night when Jennifer Lopez was telling Pia to work on her moves and dancing, and blah, blah, I wanted to throw something at the TV. I was thinking, "Yeah, Jennifer, you have to do that stuff because you can't sing!! Pia, unlike you, CAN sing!!"
Put Billy Joel at a piano and have him sing, "She's Got A Way About Her". Let The Beatles simply sing, "Hey Jude". I'll take that over the light and fire shows any day.

I do too. But AI is more a pop culture show. You aren't going to get artists like that. That's why it's rare to have artists like Paul on. And show me a modern-day rocker that doesn't work a stage, and work the audience.
Our demand for music today goes beyond playing a record, we are a music video, concert-going, visual audience. Gone are the days of music just being something people listened to (actually, ironically, music was originally visual -- think Classical music sans recording devices ).

Good points, NOW. In the industry today, to perform at concerts, unless you have it like one of the greatest to ever walk in shoe leather, stage performance is part of the game. If you want to do it because you're just dang good, maybe AI isn't the avenue to roll?
Like for Pia, even if she doesn't shake it like J. Lo, emotionally connecting with the audience is something the Beatles did do.

Ummmm.... I didn't pick up the "fish out of water" but she definitely could use some coaching for stage performance.
The group performances this year have been LOUSY lol These singers don't blend as well as others in past seasons.
