Thanks, for the info. I am not defending anyone who weighs more than 250 pounds. I cut calories, carbs, fats, salts, and sugars to avoid hitting 240. I have not changed my eating enough lose beyond 220 at the moment. That is on the agenda for 2012. I do know that there are many who do not take proper care of their eating. I also have not known very many preachers who were grossly over weight and I know a lot of preachers being in the ministry......but just a side note that preachers ( or anyone for that matter )who fast a lot sometimes have trouble loosing weight cause their body stores food from thinking they are starving from All the fasting

Wow... not sure where you live but if you want to meet them move to Texas. MOST of the pentecostal preachers here are sloppy fat. Evangelists, not so much. And there is NOTHING about fasting that causes weight gain, fasting causes weight LOSS.... so let's bust that myth right now.

I was just almost tempted to post a pic of 40 preachers standing on the platform in my old church for anniversary services... It would make the point like no words could but I love a lot of those bloated people and just can't do it.

Many people are "closet eaters". They eat very little at the supper table to make that appear as though they do not eat much. They hide stuff in the privacy of their bedroom and eat it when they go "retire for the night". My sister is this way.


Side note. I had a friend who was very overweight. She did not tell me that she was eating, then making herself vomit afterwards. She went to the doctor to make it appear like there was some reason as to why she was vomiting after she ate. Then my friend came back to me laughing at what the doctor told her. She said she told him that she couldn't keep anything on her stomach and he told her that she looks like that food was going somewhere besides out.

Ouch! I am not trying to be hard on anyone, just share information. I work in medicine so yes here I do have experience, there are hundreds of things I know little about and I love hearing from those who have knowledge about them. I hope that you do too and that I have not offended you in any way.

Now that's just funny. You're the forum expert on sin, but let someone get on something that isn't loudly condemned from the pulpit (a problem that is pretty much ignored in most churches) and you're getting snarky with her?

A good friend of mine was overweight. He always said it was his metabolism and he did not eat that much. He fell on hard times and came to live with us for a while. This man lost 70-80 lbs while living with us just from having to control food intake. After he moved out he gained the weight back.
