Don't misunderstand jfrog, I vote. I just do not get hung up in all the political sparing.
I read records of votes on issues that I am concerned about and I make decisions based on that.
I do no watch slick TV ads. infomercials, debates, discuss it with friends to get their opinions, debate politics, etc. AND I CERTAINLY DO NOT WANT TO HEAR ABOUT POLITICS OVER THE PULPIT. My husband and I after reviewing records carefully decide candidates. We read bills and laws championed by the candidates. We decide who is most qualified for the job since there has not been anyone that could even loosely be called a Christian to vote for in decades.
We study issues that are up for vote locally.
Then we go to the polls and vote.
It has been my very long term experience that this changes nothing but it is still our obligation.
Politics is not a second religion or even a professional sport in our world.

There is a website that I use to try to infer the position of candidates that are close to mine. However, sometimes I have to wing by gut feelings or by party. Enjoy doing those things that you have said that you do not care to do.
I did hear of a preacher who avoided trouble with the IRS in this fashion. "As the pastor of this church, I am not allowed to endorse a particular candidate, but I can tell you that you have a choice between Mr. Kerry or Bro. Bush." I thought that was funny. As far as I know, that did not happen in an Apostolic church.

I would agree with you, but I don't believe now that we are to even try to operate in satan's "kingdom," but to defeat it from without; "not of the world."
However, as much as I might like to imagine the profound effect a 0% voter turnout might provide, I can still recognize that politics is at least peripheral to my existence, and hope that those who would vote might actually decide to make a difference--when the Prez is neither Rep or Dem, I'll consider that a clue...
Our nation is not now and never was Christian. While it is true that many Puritans migrated here to avoid religious persecution, most of the early leadership in America were Freemasons, many atheists. Nothing shows me a preachers ignorance more than for him to expound from the pulpit on how God blessed this nation because it was founded on Christian principles and how God is now or will in the future remove our blessings if we don't 'return' to him.
America took what she has by force, just like The Roman Empire before her. We are a big bloated fat cat nation of godlessness and waste that is deservedly hated by many and will no doubt, if the Lord tarries, end in the way that every nation like us has before.
Have no doubt; God is sovereign and his plan for the U.S. and the rest of earth will be fulfilled. We can vote until Jesus comes back but it will not make a wit of difference to how it all turns out. Those who waste a lot of time and brain space on politics are just amusing themselves. It's all vanity.
Better to prepare and help others prepare for the coming Kingdom of our Lord Jesus Christ than to spend time trying to fix this broken kingdom that we live in.
Since God ordains all leaders (Rom 13), if you voted against Obama in the last election, you voted against God's will. Right?
This would be a central question for someone who votes to ask themselves, as it points to the flaw in the premise. (You) think you live in a Democracy.
