That's an assumption you're making. They claim to know, but their heart is not at peace. Now, they will NOT say it out rightly that they are not right with God. But deep down in their heart, they are not at peace with God. Of course, they will claim to people that they are saved.
i John 3
20 For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things.
21 Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God.
The thing is those who are saved and those who are not saved both claim to be saved. Those who are not saved (who claim to be saved), however are not at peace with God, but they just claim to be saved for various reasons:
Some to look religious
some were raised in church, so to be in the "in crowd" (their heart condemns them though).
So there's no delusion involved at all, just hypocrisy on the side of those who claim to be saved while their heart really does condemn them.
Are you saying that nobody is actually deluded? That they will know they are not saved, and everyone who doesn't (deep inside) know they're not saved is really saved? Nobody will be surprised, and those who cry "Lord, Lord" and are rejected by Jesus will be expecting it? Just pretending to be surprised, I guess?

Wait, no, that can't be right. You said only Jesus knows. (But in your case, you also know you are really saved. Somehow. So not only Jesus knows, in your case. I guess there are exceptions! )

John 10:14
I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine.
Jesus said he knows them
And they know him
So I wasn't making an exception of any sort...

So, you've retracted "only Jesus knows"?
Anyway, it seems even you can agree that there are people who think they are saved, but are not. They think they know their Shepherd's voice, but they don't. You probably even agree that some folks who say they are 100% sure are wrong. I guess our only disagreement on this is whether you could be among them.
