I guess were some of you are misunderstanding me is in the notion that nobody is saying anything about black on black crime. Al Sharpton may not be saying anything about it, but there are thousands of voices in black America that do all the time. I think some of you all just fall for the sensational media games. It was on a young black radio show that I heard about how many shootings have already taken place in chicago this year. It is a huge problem and that was the point of their conversation. I and many of my contemporary art actively working to change what we see. Once again this case struck a nerve because the killer was walking away.
And my question to you and others in the black community on this forum is, will you walk away, when its revealed that he walked for a reason, he was innocent of doing anything illegal ?

I think Stew would be fine. But unfortunately, I think news of acquittal would be met with something reminiscent 1992... and I sincerely hope I am wrong about that!

Canam, I am just confused as to where your absolute certainty comes from. There is nothing in the evidence that would warrant that in my opinion. If he called 911 to say that someone was chasing him as opposed to running from him I would understand. If he told the dispatcher" yes I will be sitting in my truck by the mailbox" instead of "no, call me so I can tell you where I will be" I would understand. If he had 1 drop of blood on his clothes or a torn shirt, I might still say that he created an un necessary confrontation but I might understand your position better. As it is, I just don't see why you're so confident that he is justified.

Imo the black community as a whole is so upset with the rampant immorality, multiple children born to different mothers, the drugs,the rampant murders , the black on black crime period, that they look for anything to blame it on except the one in the mirror and " whitey" is a great target, despite the fact zim is multi cultural and despite the fact Zim was a strong advocate for the black community over the years, none of that matters,as long as we convince people its" the mans" fault,just blame it all on "the man" The black community as a whole will be outraged to learn anything different about this incident and they will plug their ears and scream its all been fixed, the man did it, the man did it.

Can I ask you a question? Honestly, how many black individuals have you had an intimate in depth conversation about this case (or any of the other issues you referred to for that matter)? What I'm telling you is that as a black person who has had many conversations with other black people, I can tell you with absolute confidence that your assessment is not anywhere near universally accurate in the Zimmerman case. This case, to me and many other people of many races (black included), is largely about a man who clearly overstepped his bounds, killed a kid who was guilty of nothing other than walking home, and was himself allowed to walk away. The racial overtones come in when discussing the role that the race of the kid played in the initial confrontation and in the police's decision to so readily allow him to walk.
Yes, there are many black people who are so jaded in their view of police and justice in America, that they feel you have to march and demand justice in order for it to be done. But there are millions more like myself who know that if you just shine a light on wherever "the good old boy network " is operating, that is generally enough to make people start to get in line. If you don't think it's possible in a small town for the son of a judge to receive preferential treatment that rises to the level of injustice in a case like this, you may be naive.
