Re: Tarrying for the Holy Ghost Baptism

I agree that the issue of tarrying is false (although I have not heard it preached). I do believe that the reason that most tarry is that they have yet to fully surrender themselves to God. This is why it is often easier for children to receive this experience than adults. I know that I sought and tarried as a child, but when I finally reached complete surrender, then I received the Holy Ghost. I have watched this hold true in nearly every single instance. I believe that we should see more of this.

I would say that is because they have less trouble with pride than those of us from more technologically advanced cultures. They must depend on God far more than we need to at the current time, and therefore it is easier to submit to Him. Who is to say but that we are the greater loser by having more technology but less of God.

I believe that we shall see the day come when people shall pray through as they did in the house of Cornelius.

You may be right, Jay. I have a Nazarene friend that went to Africa for a month.
Some of the people they stayed with seemed to talk in their sleep. The next morning he asked someone if they did this often, and what they were talking about? The answer was, they were praying. They pray constantly, even in their sleep.

i am fully persuaded that a person cant even come to God unless the Spirit draws them. Then God pricks their heart and brings conviction.

If a person yeilds to the Spirit to repent, hasnt that act become the most ever that a person could do to surrender themselves to God?

How much did the people on the day of pentacost have to surrender after they was pricked in their hearts? so im not sure i really believe that complete surrender stuff. sure it makes good preaching but your in the flesh and that flesh will always be at odds with the Spirit.

Paul describes himself as a wretched man because of it. romans 7:13-25

He also said after they was saved he declared romans 12:1
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

so these Spirit filled people still had not reached such a place as complete surrender.

God Picked you, to make you a vessel. HE took you as you was, a sinner, and made you whole by the power of the sacrifice of Christ Jesus.

So i dont thing the complete surrender thing holds water.

people get down in the alter praying for the Spirit, praying for tounges, and we got people yelling "LET GO" and some one else saying "HOLD ON" and everyone is looking for some outward sign, and there is this prayer mob gathered around them for a half hour pushing on them, taking turns laying hands on them and then after all that nothing happens.

1st reaction, something in their life is not allowing the Spirit to come in.There not allowing God in. (Yep people blame them) Yet they have been forgiven and all sin removed...

2nd reaction Brother just Keep praying its gonna happen.

after mulitple attempts to said alter and after multiple tries with prayer mobs and no tounges said person is now disgruntled. He has shed tears, asked God Pleaded with God, and now after so many failed attempts. feels rejected. It is not to much after that they will leave.

This happends allot and we declare it so because they have not completly surrendered. I dont agree with you on that brother.

God Bless

Re: Tarrying for the Holy Ghost Baptism

People are frustrated about this because
some are teaching that speaking in tongues is
a condition for salvation.
