And what does a personal walk with God consist of?
Read Galatians 5:1-26 for just a glimpse of what God expects from us. There's more.
You have hit the nail on the head. Our walk is personal, not to be ridiculed by other believers because our walk is not the same of the "convictions" of other believers.

Thats a great revelation there AYR. Here is my question though, is that a two way street ?
Not likely. As evidenced by the "apostolic swimwear" thread, one who may have more conservative convictions can not even have a normal conversation without those less conservative making it into a standards bash thread.
And yes, there are critics from both sides of the fence. But the liberal types are quicker to point out a conservatives "misguided" ways. And its funny to me because when I see a question thread by someone more liberal than me about something in everyday life, (clothes, music, etc) I simply don't post because our beliefs may be different so my opinion is not relevant. When this happens in reverse, every lib on the forum has to step in and stir the pot.
Like I said, great revelation, be tough to sell it though.

Is this any different then when the tables are turned in a church environment or more conservative message board? When a member mentions taking a vacation and a week later the pastor is talking about the appropriateness of said destination over the pulpit? I suppose that's OK though because we are not to touch God's anointed.....
And while I am nearly always trying to keep things lighthearted with my playful taunts, I have never called someone backslidden.

Like I said, AYR had a great revelation. But it won't happen, not here. Can't speak for other forums, though I am more conservative than most here and not as conservative as others, I won't go to those forums because of what your talking about , which is the same reason I don't go to lib forums. Just wish this place was a little more, shall we say, friendly to both sides.
And we are talking about this forum. Obviously none of us can control what goes on inside of churches. Especially ones we all do not attend.

I must say I agree, but...
It is the debate, and strong opinion that can make things interesting for many.
It's really not unlike the real world. If someone believes Christians not wearing long sleeves in 105 degree temps is a salvific shortfall, they will open themselves to some serious criticism - both here and in real life.
Likewise, if one believes we should simply let pop culture define what acceptable for Christians - they too might be targeted by the Christian community, online community included.
Everyone should simply grow up and become a MODERATE like me!

I agree. But when debate is not the intention of the poster, then it shouldn't be the intention of the responder.

Very true. This falls under forum etiquette, and common social courtesy.

The poster who started the swimwear discussion said and I quote "
Hello! I am an Apostolic male. I know that modesty in dress is different from person to person and church to church. I personally do not wear shorts or short sleeves (typically 3/4 length sleeves or longer). I am able to find tons of websites selling modest swimwear for women but not alot for men. What sites I find that do have mens swimwear, I would'nt consider modest or holy. Does anyone know of some websites or have any suggestions, thoughts, or advice? Thank you! "
So actually THEY started with a comparison of churches, etc. when actually they only needed to say "I am able to find tons of websites selling modest swimwear for women but not alot for men. What sites I find that do have mens swimwear, I would'nt consider modest." When you use words like 'holy' when describing swimwear you insinuate that anyone who is wearing less then your coverage is somehow 'UNHOLY'. That of course might raise hackles. No surprises there.
Still I hope that I was helpful and not rude in pointing out that it was probably going to be big bucks for something that will get little use.

I understand what your saying, but again, as AYR has stated, those are his personal beliefs as to what is holy or not, no different from the word "modesty" to me. But those who may be more lib than he WILL see that before anything else.
