They threw him under the bus and deserved what they got. Newt was cleared of every false ethic violation. We don't need a progressive Republican in the WH. Mitt had already passed policies in his state that Obama was being held back on. That should have raised some red flags, but people were too intent on winning and not realizing what that could have done to our party. Eight years of a progressive president - where would we be after those 8 years on conservative policy? That is more scary than Obama winning, IMO.
