Red face Re: What's Your Thanksgiving Menu?

My son and new daughter-in-law (they've been married 4 mos) invited us to their house for the big day.
I had it easy: cranberry sauce, apple cider, tablecloths and bakery vegan cupcakes, that I picked up yesterday.
DIL and her mother fixed turkey, stuffing, sweet potatoes with pineapple, corn, green beans, rolls, mashed potatoes and gravy, Ham, and vegan pumpkin pie.

I'm still stuffed! She did a great job!

(the stove top was in use so my son heated the cider on the grill outdoors)

Re: What's Your Thanksgiving Menu?

Dinner at my house........

20 lb. Turkey
Mashed potatoes
Gravy
Green Bean Casserole
Corn Casserole
Waldorf Salad
Stuffing
Homemade rolls with Cinnamon butter
Olives (green and black)
Spinach Dip
Hot Chicken and Cheese Dip with Hawaiian Bread
Cheese tray including beefstick
sweet potato casserole
cherry cheesecake
pumpkin pie
pecan pie
Pop, Water or Coffee

I think that's everything. But I can't swear to it.
Our crowd was smaller this year than normal. Several nieces and nephews were out of state (none of them together. Imagine!) Christmas will be bigger. Can't wait!

Amen, sistah!! Although I do like the ones at McDs too. These homemade ones are apricot and are deep fried, so the crust puffs up. My husband loves them - I'd rather have pan fried ones, but it's his once a year indulgence, so I give in.

My hunch is that deep-fried things, though not health food by any stretch, get a bad rap: Not very much of the fat is absorbed in the food, if it is done properly. Pan frying may actually be worse, as far as absorption goes. Also, I bet it depends on the fat: peanut oil isn't as bad for you as, say, lard. Is it?
