LOL! Probably true, but you can't discount the level of influence/coercion certain lobbyist groups have for their causes. And it's more about power for them. The raising of taxes is not paramount to staying in the game.

Yes I just don't believe it was necessary in this case. They've been eyeing how to make more money by regulating the internet and charging for email and other services for years. It's no surprise that government finally decided to mandate sales tax

27 Senators, including 5 Democrats. didn't feel that way. So, no, it's not always about revenue for some people. We will see how the House votes on this.

Re: Internet Sales Tax Passes - Senate Vote Count

But how many opposed the bill because it's about taxes?

The bill got bipartisan support in the Senate but faces opposition in the House, where some lawmakers regard it as a tax increase. Grover Norquist, the anti-tax advocate, and the conservative Heritage Foundation oppose the bill, and many Republicans have been wary of crossing them.

Obviously, the ones voting against it were concerned about taxing the American people more.

More importantly, it bypassed the Senate Committee, not following regular order in the Senate. That's a big heads up.
