Re: Sinful housework

I find this discussion of whether God is love or God is holy interesting.

I wonder if anyone could research how many scriptures use holy as an attribute, description, or adjective of God, and also, how many scriptures use love as an attribute, description, or adjective of God.

In my opinion when Scripture speaks of God being holy, it's like those that speak of God being just, compassionate, merciful, etc. It is an attribute. However, when speaking of love we read that God is not only loving... but God IS love.

My examples are as follows:
While God is just... God is not justice itself.
While God is merciful... God is not mercy itself.
While God is jealous... God is not jealousy itself.
While God is holy... God is not holiness itself.
However... God is love itself.

Thus love is:
just
merciful
holy
patient
kind
etc.
As a result... God is just, patient, merciful, holy, patient, kind, etc..

http://biblez.com/search.php?q=holy+God 384
http://biblez.com/search100.php?q=God+love 221
where 2 are "God is love," 16 are "God's love," and a bunch of others, maybe most, use 'love' as a noun...hmm.

If God is 100% what about the verses that speak of How's hatred of some things and die individuals? This fits with How's nature being holy but not with His nature being love.

The best way to view God today is through the filter of Jesus in the gospels.

While I do agree that Jesus was and remains the best picture of God available to man since He was and is God . Still the light that the other 62 books of the Bible shine should not be discounted.

Are you saying that the carnal/fallen nature is completely removed after subsequent to salvation yet while alive? Just trying to understand your statement.

Re: Sinful housework

yes, correct, if by 'completely removed' you mean like with sandpaper, i guess might be an apt metaphor. and i say 'right after' but of course that is up to the individual.
