Re: How to worship your pastor

well, i never said that Paul's words were baloney; just poorly interpreted. You (mostly) read exactly one translation of Scripture. Have you ever seen one of those exercises about how some verses may be translated wildly differently from our accepted ones? This seems to make it incumbent on a believer to at least be aware of the alternates, imo...of course, if you signed a pact, or pledge, no doubt this is discouraged?

Well, I am sure you can find a version somewhere in the "minority text" of the 50 or so other versions of the Bible to fit the concept you may have. The possibilities are endless...

Just to illustrate a point...

How about this possibility? How about we do with this passage of scripture as you are doing with the one you are using against women preachers/pastors.

This is a true saying, If a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work. 2A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach; 3Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous; 4One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity; 5(For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?) 6Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil. 7Moreover he must have a good report of them which are without; lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil. I Timothy 3:1-7

How many male pastors are single? How many are have children that are "out of church", in juevenile centers, correctional facilities, etc.? How many are divorced without cause? How many have serious financial troubles, can't manage money? How many have a bad report in the community?

According to the above text, taken as it is, without studing any other scriptures, such men should not be licensed, hold office or be pastoring or even preaching.

Chew on that one for awhile if you want to play "out of context" scripture ball.

I will AMEN you on that post...if you have a chaotic household you shouldn't be a up front leader. The problem with pastors that have a chaotic household not quitting is they are too reliant on offerings. If they had another way to make an income, they could gracefully step down and go teach Bible studies in their free time. They got themselves LOCKED in a situation that is biblically out of whack by "charging folks" to be disciples and becoming a "RENT-A-PASTOR" . (but most of them these days would not work for the Lord unless somebody pays them)

I know a pastor that has a grown son that dresses up like a woman. When I saw his/her pic the first thing I said to the person showing me the pic is that pastor needs to quit that church and deal with his situation. But of course he will not because he has no other way to make a living. He is also in a lawsuit with my wifes Aunt (the former first lady of the church).

Some of these men wouldnt go near a pulpit or teach a Bible Study to a sinner unless they got paid...Paul would have rebuked them before all and would have kicked them out of the early Church ministry as hirelings.
