I would tend to believe that he is trying to make a case that not every Muslim interprets Quran, Hadiths, and the religion's creator Muhammad's words in the same manner. So, like others forms of Christianity sees things differently which sometimes produces bad results, and forms of Islam can be viewed the same way. Therefore a broad brush sweep of Islam cannot make them all child marrying, wife beating, female circumcising, honor killing, bomb blasting Jihadists. It has more to do with human nature than religion, and men will modify the religion to suit their needs. Take for example the American Islam of Mormonism. Same flawed thinking, applied to modifications of existent religions already available to the creator of the religion. Those flawed understandings get worse from their foundation on up, and you end up with horrible stories like "Under the Banner of Heaven," or a group like the Fundamentalist LDS. I personally know people who are Quran only believers, who totally disagree with the Hadiths, and that is how THEY reconcile problems within their religion. Yet, they are viewed as innovators, and are on the fringe of Islam. There are also Torah only Jews, and Book of Mormon only Mormons, they all discard the later writings of their religions to reconcile the problems those religions have through their extra books.

Do they? I didn't know it. I had a JW knock at my door, misrepresenting why they were there - claimed to be regarding children's education. The woman was training the young man that was with her. I could see she was getting really upset over my questioning of her beliefs. LOL!
