Re: Greeneville, TN Non legalistic Apostolics
And so, some wonder, how is it possible to be legalistic with Acts 2:38...
The Oneness Camp is deep and wide with various forms of legalism.

It's not a defense. It's a refutation of the false claim that OPs have a corner on the "legalism" market.

So what if others are legalistic. You have the power. You have the Holy Ghost. The Catholics don't. The Methodists don't. The Baptists don't. There is a higher bar that you have set for yourselves in proclaiming the others lacking the Holy Ghost. Their legalistic behavior can be explained due to their lack of the Holy Ghost power. Apostolics cannot.

Sigh. "Legalism" is a nonsensical term of no substantive meaning. It means "I don't like those people, cause they say I'm wrong about something, so they are legalists." When someone claims OPs are legalists for standing for their doctrine, as if others aren't, but in reality those others stand on their doctrine just as strongly, thus making EVERYBODY "legalists", it shows the original claim was without merit.

During my "journey back" God woke me up at 5am one morning with this revelation about a month ago.
He told me that there is restrictive legalism and permissive legalism and both types are two sides of the same coin.
It is like two lawyers in a courtroom arguing two sides of the same case and the prosecutor starts haranguing the defense and accusing them of being a lawyer.
DUH! Both of them are lawyers just on the opposite sides!
Legalism is a mindset...Not a position of strict rules and standards.
Legalists can either be conservative or liberal BUT being on one side or the other doesn't automatically make you a legalist.
You have good and sincere people on both sides of issues that want to live in peace and be right with God.

How can acts 2:38 be legalistically taken at all? Peter commanded it and so do people whom liberals claim are legalistic demand it.
