I mean not that I'm against prophecy but
Hebrews 1:1-2 says clearly "God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, [2] Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; "
So Elijah, Jeremiah, and Isaiah are bad examples. All I can say is the gifts work in our church, tongues and interpretations and prophecy and all that, but we have no one in the office of prophet. There is different people God uses to bring forth prophecy. I could see someone like TW Barnes was a elder and prophet for one generation. But I can't see any place in the word that says this is how it will be for every generation.
