Re: BY THIS STANDARD-Greg L. Bahnsen
I get all stressed out just thinking about Christian Reconstruction. LOL
The politics, struggle, and agenda are just mind numbing to me.
I'd just rather live for God, share the Gospel, teach the seekers, and advance a Kingdom that is entirely spiritual and already victorious.
I have no desire to rule over others.

I think it is using a biblical framework from which to consider the moral/political/civic aspects of life.
Some theonomists may make an unpractical application.

All we need is Jesus. Not a new fangled socio-political religious agenda. I've seen people vote and be led away like drones because of this theology. They'll even vote for what isn't in their own family's best interest. And that wrecks the process. If we do not have enough citizens voting for what is in our best interest... we're not going to see the public best interest reflected in our politics. That's what leaves most of the Western world stunned about Americans. It's like we started this dream... and now other countries have it.
Frankly, I've come to the conclusion that politics is actually quite worldly. A necessity for the world we live in, but worldly. This is just a theology that justifies churches trying to get in on the power grab.

We should make our decisions based on scripture, not socialist philosophy.
The left is trying to steal American by gaining control of the means of production, ie, the workers, what the workers produce, the money that the workers make.
The left controls media, TV & Movies, Public School Education, Universities, health care.
The left is the party of political power grabbing.
They want to steal from the future by borrowing money to pay for all their programs, making it look like they are giving you stuff for free.
Keepin you in poverty on their social welfare programs so you continue in dependency
The left has the mega speaker phones of communication.
The only voice the church has, is the church

Ah, but Amanah, that's the thing. The theonomist argues that they are the one's who have the right interpretation of Scripture.
I disagree. I think they are filled with heretical hooey. lol The founders of theonomy are all Reformed Trinitarian theologians. They pride themselves with Calvinism, and long to see another Calvinistic Geneva. And, as a result, they've just modernized this outdated view of Calvinism. Notice, Calvin's work was titled "Institutes". Rushdoony's is titled, "The Institutes of Biblical Law". Both are very similar in scope and intention.
I refuse to let theonomists define theology for me.
I firmly believe that Jesus taught of a spiritual kingdom of the elect that permeates all nations, cultures, peoples, kindreds, and tongues. It permeates capitalist societies, socialist societies, monarchies, etc., etc.. It isn't bound by political allegiance, nor is it predicated upon any earthly system. In fact, it only serves to improve whatever system it flourishes under. It's a spiritual kingdom that is salt and light to the lost societies of this world. It promises no earthly kingdom, and indeed expresses the highest of free ideals. It is neither left, nor right. It is focused on Jesus. Christ, and Christ alone. It has no agenda concerning the nations but to warn them that Christ is coming and when He arrives, He will put down all earthy power.
The world is fallen. It's people and governments are imperfect and fallen also. Our aim is to foster a love for Jesus, a love for others, and the salvation of the soul. Not social reform.
Sadly, down through history, every Christian effort at this has led to oppression, war, and bloodshed. It's the same ol' girl different dress. And those who can't think on their own, and lack spirituality, are more than willing to allow the theonomists to do their thinking for them. It's a shame really.

Amanah, the media is run by corporations, capitalist enterprises who know all too well that sex sells and that violence is entertaining. Capitalism is what is corrupting media. The left creates ThinkTV, PBS, NPR, and public access stations. How much sex and violence do you see on these stations??? LOL The left is BORING. LOL They tried to launch a leftwing radio station called Air America, remember? It bombed. Why? They couldn't get corporations to invest in it.
What we are seeing in media is the fruit of anarcho-capitalism. Not the left. And really, not even classical capitalism. It's an anarcho-capitalism that shoves sex in our face to sell, and violence in our face to entertain us. It's a multi-billion dollar capitalist industry.
Every left of center company, agency, etc. happens to provide rather nice healthcare benefits. I work for the government. I'd put my plan up against anyone's in the free market. lol

Amanah, we have a Republican White House, a Republican Congress, and 7 out of 9 Supreme Court Justices appointed by Republicans. lol Are you tuned into reality? What's the answer, one party rule? LOL
Also, Amanah, the nature of politics is to assume power by the consent of the governed. Imagine if we had political parties that didn't want to assume power. You know, like the Republicans win an election and the candidate says, "No, you take it.", and then the Democrat says, "No, you take it." LOL
You're not thinking logically. lol

Only uninformed people think they are getting anything for free. The left has an ethic of working together for the common good. If I said we pay our taxes to secure a standing army for defense, no body bats an eye. But, if I said, we pay our taxes to ensure that no America dies in the shadows of a hospital merely because they can't afford insurance, and everyone gets a case of butthurt.
Also, when well informed people speaking of free healthcare, they know it cost tax revenue. What they mean by "free" is that there isn't the excessive fees from private insurers in the mix that make up to almost 30% of the cost of health insurance in our country.
And interestingly enough, those political leaders on the right love their government insurance. They shoot down every piece of legislation that would leave them subject to the free market health insurance they leave us having to pay for. Ask yourself, "Why?" It's a joke on simple people governed by emotion and manipulatable religions convictions. They get you outraged, that activates the fear responses in the brain, makes you more controllable. Then they tie in religion, makes you now religiously dedicated to the agenda. And then you spend your days calling anyone who doesn't agree with the Republican Party socialists and communists all day. When... while the left is far more socially democratic, it isn't anti-capitalism. Look at nations storming ahead of us throughout the world, you know, nations that corporations and businesses are running to... Denmark, Belgium, UK, Canada, Japan, China, Netherlands, Scandinavia, etc.... if democratic socialism is so terrible for business... why are so many American companies racing to their shores??? It's a big joke... on you. LOL

Amanah, there are limits in most states regarding how long one can be on welfare. That's why it is a tired old argument everyone rolls their eyes at today.

Really? LOL
The only truly "left" mediums of communication out there I can find is NPR and PBS. The rest is on the right.

Category fallacy. I don't have any desire to use religion to rule over others. God ordained that civil government take that role.

Your statement concedes your entire argument.
I'll leave you to figure out how and why.
