It happens....Usually gets addressed when they are wanting to get involved in some type of leadership..... seriously don’t get a lot of push back they understand when we discuss it. I’m glad you mentioned leadership. How quickly are newcomers allowed into such roles? For instance, will your pastor take the word of another pastor he respects and fast track that process, or does he need to see the given person “in action” for a while prior to being allowed in such a role?

Any new person is 6 month minimum.

Acts 6 is a good account of the Apostles choosing certain men to assist in leading the early church.

"Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business. But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word. And the saying pleased the whole multitude: and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Ghost, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolas a proselyte of Antioch: Whom they set before the apostles: and when they had prayed, they laid their hands on them."

Full of the Holy Ghost

6 months or 1 year plus fruit

I doubt those individuals were unknowns though. Would you trust a complete stranger to lead a congregation in any way?
