He stated what HE FELT. I suppose you can say it was his feelings, but only because HE FELT them. There is a difference in your feelings and things you feel. BS didn't have those feelings before going to campmeeting until he felt them.

Perhaps it's just semantics, but I see a difference.

Feelings are emotions. Things we feel cause emotions.
