Felt comes from the word feelings. We feel things all the time. We feel with our hands. We feel with our eyes and mind (perception). Some people feel they have seen UFOs and others feel it was some thing else
"Feelings" is a noun. "Feeling" is a verb when used as an action. There is a difference.
