Man............It seems we need to shut down and go home, as everyone seems wound up tighter than a top
He he, I felt that u were talking about my church!
Yes, we must be on two different topics of music for sure.
Hmmm, Christian???...Matt, two things bring this monkey to screeches, my family, my church family...I am very protective of them.
I would NEVER expect you to bow to me, I doubt you could reach that low

Well, I would fight you for that LOW spot, as I have squatters rights to it.

No, I wasn't even thinking of a church when I posted. My oldest son (18 yrs old) had brought home some stuff that I had to make him get out of the house. It was along the lines of Metalica, but it was supposed to be Christian. I would probably be considered quite liberal in music, as I love all kinds. But this is just too much like the rock music I was delivered out of, and had the same spirit. I don't know the name of the band or I would have listed it.

I am going to research this, hmmm.
I have head P.O.D. but I don't really feel that they have owned up to their "christian" labeling by some in the Industry.
Bands like switchfoot and reliant k have crossover playlist, but if you're good, you're good and you will get picked up like Bebe & Cece back in the day. I could see this offending some in the church but it doesn't bother me. I am going to try and find this metal you have spoken of...

I like a few of the Switchfoot songs. And ReliantK has a few good ones too. They are not my style, but I have no problem with them.

POD is pretty far out there to me. They are beyond where I am comfortable with.

If I think of it, I will ask him tonight and let you know. This group screamed so that you couldn't understand the words, even though the words were supposed to be christian.

POD doesn't really claim to be a Christian band and they admit their influence is rastafari

They do claim to be "born again", and they do have "Christian" songs on their albums.

I have heard some of the members claim to be born again. I have heard some of their songs and perhaps they can be called Christian themed, but I have ran into people that think Metallica has some Christian songs on their albums.

But POD attributes their influence to Rastafari and their false messiah

Click Here This is interesting . . .

It's a list of various kinds of "Christian" Metal. Lists the Christian artists and which secular band they sound like.

I've heard of two of these bands:
Living Sacrifice = sounds like: Slayer, Sepultura, Morgoth, Death.
Demon Hunter = sounds like: Slipnot

Bleh. Not my thing.

Thanks, not my cup of tea either but I liked one of the guitar sounds...now to weigh in on this.
I have some friends that know about my stance, lifestyle, and church music and they respect that. One has told me he could never darken my church's door as he is too evil. Another is a speed metal guitar player and he is amazingly fast. Criticize me, but I have jammed with him with church music and he was touched by God's presence. Their style of music is heavy metal and in one case Death Metal. Those lyrics are so angry, and filled with hate, death, finality, and eternal damnation that they ACCEPT coming to THEM!!!
So here is a band, wrapping it in the same sound but talking about eternal LIFE through the cross and Jesus Christ????? Can this message get through, or is God limited by what we perceive as wrong and evil? The only thing that I have been told that God cannot do is lie. Hmmmm.

Here is a song Undying by Demon Hunter...
Ever since the day that I was made I’ve been deciding the end
And I was made of wood and stone that won’t diminish or bend
So when the heavy hand of death is here to take me away
I’ll be the solid grip of time, forever holding my stay
Nobody ever made a force that took a beating like me
I call the earth and every scum to come and try to fight me
Cus when I made the choice to live beyond the dirt that we tread
I felt the curse of mortal limit fall before it was said

Pre-chorus:
When this season ends…

Chorus:
One final heart-break
And blinding lights will guide our way
Free us our blind state
They will call us by our name
Undying

Tearing through these days I find the tolerance to strive and push on
I know what lies beyond this life for me is already won
No one can take away the blood that covers over my fall
Without the blood of perfect life I know I’m nothing at all
So now I reign forever hallowed in eternity’s hand
No man can shake me from the everlasting ground that I stand

(Pre-chorus)

(Chorus)

We are the ones who will still remain when all is laid to waste
We are the ones who, when angels cry, will see them face to face
We are the ones

(Chorus)

****So, do I tell my buddies about this music? Music is their lifestyles and all that they do in their free time, so it is a relatable topic. Or do I just witness and leave music out of the conversation, when really that is 95% of what we talk about. Do I hope that they change their styles and likes like I did and maybe some good brother like Bill Gaither gets through to them?
So because of this I'm perplexed....

All I remember is my brother taking me to a christian rock concert many moons ago where the local churches were banning their young people from going and that night changed my outlook and life forever and I am a witness of the power of the Blood...

God is so vast, so creative, we argue against evolutionists all of the time concerning His great powers, yet, we so often put Him in our comfy boxes...strange, eh?

I have this CD! lol

We let our children listen to whatever they wanted in the Christian genre. If they didn't change, then we didn't worry about it. My daughter was unable to handle the rap Christian stuff, but it didn't do anything to our son. She stopped listening to it and he still does a little.

This song by Toby Mac is sweet!

Toby Mac - Made To Love
From the album Portable Sounds

The dream is fading now I am staring at the door
I know it’s over cause my feet have hit the cold floor
Check my reflection, I ain’t feeling what I see
It’s no mystery

What ever happened to a passion I could live for?
What became of the flame that made me feel more?
And when did I forget…

Chours:
That I was made to love You
I was made to find You
I was made just for You
Made to adore You
I was made to love and be loved by You
You were here before me
You were waiting on me
And You said You’d keep me never would You leave me
I was made to love
And be loved by You

The dreams alive with my eyes open wide
Back in the ring You got me swingin’ for the grand prize
I feel the haters spittin’ vapors on my dreams
But I still believe…

I’m reachin’ out, reachin’ up, reachin’ over
I feel a breeze cover me called Jehovah
And Daddy I’m on my way…

Chorus:

Anything I would give up for You
Everything I give it all away
