Personally, I can think of several stupid things I did when I was 16... and 17... and 18... I've just heard too many lies over the pulpit to take those kind of things seriously. I am not saying that the real thing doesn't happen, but the "prophet" would have to name dates, times, specific events and what I was actually thinking at the time before I would even consider believing it.

I am not trying to argue or tear down other people's faith... I realize that most people need something like this to believe in... I just don't believe 99% of it myself... (and I am speaking broadly about prophesy, not specifically about this thread.) The only reason I even posted here was because Phil asked Randy if he was comfortable questioning men of God or something to that effect... I for one am VERY comfortable questioning them... and wish more people would do so.

I do feel sorry for you. And I am not saying that as an insult. Its not faith once you see it. It is the results of faith. This is the reason many do not see greater things from God. Because they don't believe it until they see it, and it don't work that way.

Mark 9: 24

24And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief.

God will always meet someone who is trying.

Can we look at the story though. The man initially brings his son to the disciple, showing he had faith that the son could be healed. They tried and couldn't do it. So here comes Jesus. Now I wonder where this man got the unbelief from? Could it be that he initially can believing, and then started doubting when it didn't happen, and because he cried out to Jesus asking for help, he got it?

That's right ... God will meet someone who is trying ... Sheltiedad has said there is 1% chance ...in his mind ....that the prophetic can be real. Meaning he still believes God can.

Even the great John the Baptist was not immune to doubt ... Does Jesus meet his doubt with the words: I feel sorry for you?

----------------------------------

And it came to pass, when Jesus had made an end of commanding his twelve disciples, he departed thence to teach and to preach in their cities. 2Now when John had heard in the prison the works of Christ, he sent two of his disciples,

3And said unto him, Art thou he that should come, or do we look for another?

4Jesus answered and said unto them, Go and shew John again those things which ye do hear and see:
5The blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them.

6And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me.
7And as they departed, Jesus began to say unto the multitudes concerning John, What went ye out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken with the wind?

8But what went ye out for to see? A man clothed in soft raiment? behold, they that wear soft clothing are in kings' houses.
9But what went ye out for to see? A prophet? yea, I say unto you, and more than a prophet.

10For this is he, of whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee.

11Verily I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist: notwithstanding he that is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.

-----------------------------

The same John who said "Behold... the Lamb of God" doubted that Jesus was the Christ.

How does Jesus respond to him? He bears witness to what he has done. And encourages John by stating how great he is in the kingdom ...

No offense taken... I have come to realize over my 3 or 4 years posting with you guys that I am in the extreme minority in my views when hanging out in a place like this. Every now and then I just feel like I have to share my own point of view, but try to keep it to a bare minimum. lol. I don't have faith in much of anything except hard work and making good decisions and not being gullible.

Brad my friend, I do pray that God will show you his glory and that you will have no doubt as to it being him.

Hopefully that doesn't mean he will kill everyone I know so that I need him more... that's the kind of things I think of when people say things like this.

HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!! That certainly is not my prayer! I believe God can show himself in a positive way just as easily as he can show himself in a negative way.

The true Love of God is this....

As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you:

I pray that God increases all our faith ... and that we don't get to the point where we don't believe 100% of the time.

Be of good cheer, Sheltiedad.
