I detest "sagging" which is a black cultural style among young black men that has been adopted by many white young men. I don't detest it because it is from black culture. I detest it because it looks incredibly stupid and is not practical and exposes ones butt or underwear when I don't care to see it.

I love a lot of the REAL music Black culture has given us like Motown, Jazz, the Blues, R&B, etc. Not to mention great Black gospel music.

I do realize that some of the things I don't like are generational and I allow for that. Especially when it comes to music (however rap is not music). I don't have tolerance for stupidity like sagging though.
"sagging" is dumb, and your objection is warranted, you have a reason...

But what is the reason poeple are objecting to stepping?? Is there any real merit to it? No. They don't have an argument, its just from a different culture, so they object...

and stepping is just as much a part of black culture as Jazz, Blues, & R&B...

and Rap is music, you just don't understand it }=o) I don't like gangster rap, no, because its dumb and vain and idiotic... But listen to TobyMac or John Reuben or GRITS, if you think that isn't musical, I would love to hear what music is...

rap is the natural progression of what James Brown started...

In the context here we were discussing "stepping" the objection was the same one that old time Pentecostals have to ANY dancing. It was not specifically against "stepping". It was against ANY choreographed dancing in church.

but the thing is that they don't have a problem with the lame stick thing or with choreographed signing (note: that is not real sign language... some of it is, some of it isn't)

Oh yes they do!!! Youth groups and churches that do the stick stuff and choreographed signing get all kinds of grief from conservative Pentecostals!!!

The choreographed signing group from Tupleo Children's Mansion that I saw this summer in Texas was awesome but it WAS dancing. Just with the upper body and hands and not the feet. I wish those two teenage boys that were so good could have really cut loose with their legs and feet also. They were awesome.

Tell me about it.

Watch Sis. Murphy come out of the woodwork again. If she does, I'll be saying, CC1 - Now see what you did!

LAME stick thing? Well now...thats purely a matter of opinion and you are entitled to it. But I can promise you this, come watch the stick drama team at my church just once and you won't be using the word "lame" for it!

Btw, I'm the director of the team...and I don't do "lame".
