My initial questions are serious - if anyone can comment from experience.
On one occassion when I took my kids camping in a wilderness area we were kind of "in sync" with a group of hippie kids. By "in sync" I mean that pattern that develops when different groups of hikers find themselves arriving at similar places at around the same times.

I'm certain that the hippies were "herbal" users and all even though they were kind enough to be discrete. They sat around late into the night drumming away and seemed to be having fun and enjoying their "community" in the wilds. That was my only experience with the drumming circle. I know that some of the "male bonding" seminar stuff that was popular in the early 90's involved drumming.

Whatever, as long as its not annoying.

Iwas thinking of this earlier and was trying to remember the guys name that was setting "the beat" so to speak in that movement.

No way!

Apostolic Pentecostal preachers sitting around wearing Birkenstocks and thumping a drum while reciting Robert W Bly? No thank you.

This sounds like something from the beatnick era and something from Greenwhich village.

There is a hand drumming revival underway - not just for the beatnicks anymore.

I grew up a block off a reservation.Alot of my cousins still live on the reservation.Sorry drum circles are no way for Jesus. The Indians use them
to call up the great spirit among other things.I saw one just this year
at the Cherokee pow wow. They also chant to call up their gods.I sure
hope the true church doesn't go into this. The next thing you know
we will all be like the catholic and be having dances with booze and
bingos for Jesus. No thanks. Some people have no spiritual sense whatsoever.
