Magic hair- wonder if they will drape it over the TV to "help evangelism?"

I am still not convinced that they are absolutley proven as factual. Those who are reporting instances of it being factual still have NOT said without some level of assumption that they know FOR SURE the ones propagating the stroies actually talked to the pastors who were supposed to have done this.
Even SE said, "It was my understanding" they talked with him...but did they? Has anyone really gone straight to the horses mouth? Not on this thread they haven't.
Did the men in SE's report say to SE, "I asked him point plank?" Then why didn't SE say, "They told me straight up that they spoke with him personally and he said it happened and I can absolutley verify this." instead of this loophole language, "It was my UNDERSTANDING..."
Here's the deal...no one, not one person, on this thread has verified the facts that it in fact happened on the same level that I have verified the facts that it did NOT happen...with me, I have been there for all of the services that I have been there (LOL)...and it never happened in my church..for the other 5 that I know of...I ASKED THE PASTORS MYSELF AND IT WAS ABSOLUTELY CONFIRMED BY THEM TO ME THAT THEY HAD NO HAIR CUTTING ON THE PLATFORM SERVICE.
And why has Steadfast ignored my requests to verify he got his facts from the pastor in question?

Regarding the whole RG thing, I know several who were there. They never mentioned a hair cutting party on the platform - only that the wife was "paraded" across the platform having had a complete makeover. It was a part of the message.
In this secluded instance, the church ended up losing many, many good people. It is only a fraction of what it once was.

Yes...but at the same time, I think every preacher on this forum could say that what was percieved in the audience and what actially happened has a lot to do with each individuals paradigm at the moment.
There have been instances...even before our transition out of the UPC..that people who were looking for fault to find left a service saying I said this or we did that, which we did not...
I even had a case where someone away from our church sent a disgruntled to me in our church to specifically ask for the title of a certain sermon to buy as to "get the proof"...I listened to the tape myself repeatedly trying to find what they were saying I said...it wasn't there! I poured over my notes trying to come up with what they thought I said...I didn't say it...
If someone was sitting out there looking for fault...and Richard had his wife come up and speak with him during the message or something (as i have done on several occasions)...well of course he "paraded her across the platform"...he might have found it difficult that day to levitate her there...

It's a dangerous thing to always rush to the defense of what you don't know. Just as much as it is to rush to judge and condemn.
The people I know (several) were heartbroken. They were not judgemental or accusatory.
If you think this has never happened just because of your personal experience, you are in error.

I made a fool out of myself one time! I got upset because I thought I heard the preacher say something in his message. I wrote a letter to the preacher stating how displeased I was in his comment.
The pastor sent me a tape of the sermon. When I listened to the tape, he actually said something totally different! I had to apologize to the preacher!

I think we have all been guilty of this on one level or another...I really do appreciate your honesty and the fact that you humbled yourself to apologize.

ROFL!!!! You gotta PM or call me with the details of this one. That is priceless.
I have found the last couple of years as I get older that I occasionally remember things incorrectly. It is a little scary. It does not happen often but not too long ago something came up and I could have sworn I remembered
it happening one way when in fact it was different.

I'll tell you about it in private. Mrs. Pianoman couldn't believe I wrote a letter to him! ha!
When I was six years old, I remember our family being held at gunpoint against a wall.
I THOUGHT I remembered my father saying "Go ahead and shoot the wife and kids!" I held this against him for years!
When we finally talked about it years later, he said he was begging the gunman to let his wife and kids go! The gunman did let my mom and us kids go, but continued to hold my father and an evangelist at gunpoint.
It ended with the gunman shooting himself after being surrounded by the police swat team!

He may not have seen the requests. Some don't delve into this type of thread.

He is stating it did not happen in his church, although many attributed the "legend" as a fact from his church. T1 says it did not happen at all in his church.
You state it was not as told, but much more tame- the wife simply paraded after makeover. Still distressing to those who believe in outward standards, but not as even Thad has embellished it.
