I'm not saying we need to report every illegal, as this thread suggests. But the fact that they're illegal does give law enforcement another tool to use when they're investigating other crimes.

We don't need to "rat out" every illegal. But our society can pick and choose among them to rid itself of trouble makers. American born trouble makers are trouble enough without having Castro empty his prisons like he did and send criminials to the US to save his govt money.

Mexico follows a similar path. If there wasn't the saftey valve of easy US immigration, the ruling class there would have had to fix their problems long ago or face revolution. Instead, our porous borders have served to perpetuate injustice within Mexico.

Pelathais, you make several very good points here. I agree with you 100%. Illegal Mexican immigration is a problem only in that the numbers are beginning to get to a level that are unsustainable. Also the impact to the economy is reaching a tipping point. While illegal immigration has been a benefit to the US economy (this is the real reason why nothing has been done about it), that is beginning to change because of the hidden costs in education/healthcare/and other costs that are absorbed by Americans in the form of taxes and higher insurance premiums.

That doesn’t mean we need to remove every illegal from this country. However, we do need to get control of the southern boarder and stop the flow into this country. Doing so will put a great deal of pressure on Mexico to reform their nation and that is needed very badly.

Would I report an illegal? Depends. I’m not reporting anyone I might be going to church with that is for sure. However, if I were to come in contact with a business that is using illegal labor, I would absolutely do so.
