this follows the same logic as the person who can't gain any weight no matter how many thick milkshakes they drink every day all day and wonders why God doesn't heal them of their skinniness.
That is a good point... I will have to think on that one further. I do not believe that everyone has to be the exact same size and shape, but I think we ALL need to be more responsible for what we put in our bodies and even if you have a large body shape, bad genetics, or whatever, I would say that 99% of people could still do something to be more in control of their physical health. I am also not talking about people who have water weight due to medications they are taking, etc.
This subject is becoming more and more important to me, having watched all 4 grandparents die in the last few years and seeing the deteriorating health of my mom and other people in my family. Whether people like it or not, people in the US have too many excuses for not taking care of their bodies... and the Apostolic lifestyle, where you eat for entertainment does nothing to help this issue.
I'm 36 years old and STILL trying to retrain my thinking so that I do not eat for entertainment, or comfort, and instead eat for "fuel"... this is one of the hardest battles I have ever fought and I still have a long way to go. But, when I finally win this battle, there will be people on the sidelines saying, "Oh, he never had to deal with what I am dealing with, etc." I know from personal experience (my 31 year old brother) that it can be done without surgery and just through making better food choices and a lot of hard work.
There was an article recently where a doctor was examining a very overweight person and the person made some comment that he was "big-boned" and could never be as small as the doctor... the doctor actually had tests run and through the tests determined that his (the doctor's) bones were actually larger than the patients.
I had to start something... I'm bored and lonely over here (and surrounded by 1.3 billion Chinese people, the majority of whom are not overweight, regardless of any hereditary or other medical conditions)
Bored? Can't you find a good "Chineese" buffet over there???

On the flip side, fasting all the time is bad for you too. That's what I did.

That is what I was imagining earlier when thinking about this... all the people trying to hold their pants up at the altar!
Before anyone gets offended, I and my family are all overweight, but we refuse to blame anyone but ourselves, our lifestyles, etc. I am the skinniest person in my family and I weigh 40 pounds more than the "recommended maximum weight" for my height and frame.
My brother and I are working out over an hour a day 7 days a week to change our lifestyle (and have been doing so since March of this year). Even if someone has a metabolism or glandular or whatever problem, it is STILL their responsibility to manage their own weight... If God gave you a brand new Cadillac, and you brought it back 2 years later and had never changed the oil, or done any maintenance or repairs on it, and you asked for another new one because you hadn't taken care of the old one... what kind of person would that make you?
Hope you and your brother the best in your weight reduction!

I had Chinese food yesterday. lol. I think I will go to Tony Roma's today, and then walk around and take some pictures. Believe it or not, other than the tailor-made clothing, most items seems even more expensive than in the US so I don't plan on doing much shopping.

I agree, fasting for the purposes of losing weight is very bad for you. Most things I have read say it is better to eat very small meals 4-5 times a day... an example of one of these "snacks" would be a string cheese and a cup of grapes (obviously with some meals being more substantial than others). That is why we don't say we are "dieting", we are trying to make some lifetime changes in our habits.
I don't want to embarrass my brother but at one point we estimate he was over 500 pounds... he is now down to about 370ish and we do not plan on just getting down to a certain weight and then deciding that we can eat whatever we want, we will continue to exercise, watch our portion sizes and what types of food we are eating for the rest of our lives (I hope)... we would rather make changes now (by choice) than be forced to do it later when we are (almost inevitably) diagnosed with diabetes. We have an extremely high likelihood of developing diabetes based on our family history (3 out of 4 grandparents, plus many other aunts, uncles, etc.).
